Why We Exist

Not everyone has equal access to nature, creative education, community participation and environmental education.

The same inequalities that persist in the rest of the world are even more pronounced when it comes to these issues.

Youth from working class families as well as African and Caribbean, Asian and other minority groups miss out on the advantages of nature connection because of historical and current inequalities.

These same communities, as adults, are for the most part not involved in environmental jobs or the wider green sector.

There is a body of research showing that access to and understanding of the natural environment has a proven impact on the following:

Engagement with environmental issues

Sense of self-esteem

Academic attainment

Mental & physical health

Confidence building

Resilience

Healthy, happier youth are more engaged with their communities, less reliant on consumer products, and better prepared to tackle the issues of their times.
